The decisive moment came on Matchday 34 in an electrifying home clash against Borussia Dortmund. After falling behind 0-1 early on, VfB was under enormous pressure, but the Stuttgart players impressively demonstrated their class and unshakable determination. In a passionate soccer thriller, VfB turned the game around and defeated their direct rivals 4-2. Fritz Walter emerged as the match-winner with two goals, before Maurizio Gaudino sent the stadium into a frenzy with his goal in the final minute.
